Junior Champs Workshop

Duration: 2 Hrs.

Objective:
Inspire the next generation of engineers and scientists.

Age Group: 8+

Venue: Mutually convenient. We just need a big enough room and some tables.

What is this workshop about?

This workshop is designed to give budding scientists and engineers a feel for what is inside real world gadgets and how they work. Through a series of games and activities, we get the participants to explore and play with day-to-day gadgets (that have otherwise been discarded). The participants touch, hold and feel these gadgets, take them apart, put them back together etc. They work in small groups and are given time and room to make their own discoveries, with our facilitators guiding the natural curiosity that kids exhibit. Not surprisingly, many a times these young champs end up asking questions that challenge even the most experienced pros!

What will the participants gain from this?

As the participants get to see what is inside gadgets, take gadgets apart etc, they slowly become friends with the gadgets. They start identifying the elementary components. They start understanding how things are built and how they work. They get over the fear of holding things, etc. These skills will prove absolutely indispensable for them in the later days as they dwell deeper into science and engineering related course.

Do the participants bring something with them?

We will provide all the tools and props that are needed. However, the participants are encouraged to bring with them some old gadgets (cell phones, calculators etc) that they would like to rip apart.
